Web Design Sunshine Coast

Senior web expertise for established organisations.

Based in Minyama on the Sunshine Coast, we design, build and support websites and digital platforms for established organisations with complex requirements. Usually that means custom functionality, connected business systems, a large content operation, or a website that has stopped keeping up with the organisation behind it.

You get a senior team rather than a production line, and we have been working on the Coast since 2018. Impact Office Supplies, Queensland-owned and running from the Sunshine Coast, has a B2B and B2C ordering platform, delivery management software, and Back to School software we designed, built and still actively develop today. The people who scope your project are the people who design it, build it and support it for years to come.

  • Based in Minyama, on the Sunshine Coast
  • Direct access to the senior people doing the work
  • Complex websites, eCommerce and business system integrations
  • Building for Sunshine Coast organisations since 2018

Who this is for

Web design for organisations that have outgrown a basic website.

The brief is rarely just a redesign. If you need a five-page brochure site, the Sunshine Coast has plenty of good, affordable options and we'll happily point you at them.
  • The website is commercially important

Revenue, service delivery, referrals, enrolments or member communications depend on it working properly.
  • Content has outgrown the sitemap

Several audiences, a large library and an internal team that all need to find and maintain the same material.
  • Custom functionality is part of the product

Search, quoting, portals, applications, calculators or workflows that no off-the-shelf theme covers.
  • Other systems have to stay in step

ERP, CRM, inventory, accounting, payments or fulfilment need dependable, traceable data flow in both directions.
  • Accessibility and governance matter

Boards, funders or procurement expect WCAG 2.2 foundations and an accountable process behind them.
  • The current build is holding you back

Performance problems, reliability issues, legacy code, technical debt, or a platform nobody wants to own.
Local, not local-only

Senior web design and development, based on the Sunshine Coast.

Most web design on the Sunshine Coast is aimed at small business, and a lot of it is aimed well. If you need a smart-looking site for a trade, a cafe or a studio, the local market has you covered.

We're here for the other kind of brief. Jonathan Bird, our founder and technical lead, and Mishalia Bird, our design and content lead, both work from Minyama, so getting in a room with a Coast client is easy.

We're not new here either. Impact Office Supplies, Queensland-owned and Sunshine Coast based, has been a client since 2018. Their ordering platform carries a 15,000-product catalogue, contract pricing per account and a three-way ERP integration, and converts at 33.5% on 3.4 million annual pageviews. It's still in active development.

The rest of our work is Australia-wide: health, government-funded services, enterprise, education, manufacturing and distribution. On the Coast we work with organisations from Caloundra through to Noosa. Brisbane is still a major market and hasn't changed.

How we work

Senior people. Direct access.

The person you brief is the person making the design and technical decisions, and the person still responsible for the platform in three years.
  • You talk directly to the people making the design and technical decisions
  • Strategy, design and development resolved in the same conversation
  • No junior production line and no offshore hand-off
  • No account management layer between you and the developer
  • Project context stays with us after launch
“Digital Bird has had a huge influence on our business providing many solutions besides just a fantastic reliable website. Jonathan is great to work with and has a solution to every challenge. Jonathan also has the ability to “dumb it down” and provide timely advice and assistance if something goes astray. With Jonathan we have in excess of 99% uptime on all three websites.”

Straight advice

We'll tell you what we actually think.

Useful advice sometimes costs us the bigger job. We'd rather give it than sell you a rebuild you didn't need.

A rebuild isn't always the answer

If the existing site can be fixed properly, we'll say so, even when starting again is the bigger job for us.

Requirements pick the platform

Statamic, Laravel, WordPress or Shopify. We won't push a favourite onto a brief that doesn't suit it.

Fix the cause, not the ticket

We'd rather work out why something keeps breaking than invoice you to patch it again.

Custom isn't always justified

Sometimes a config change or an off-the-shelf tool beats a build. We'll tell you when the numbers don't support it.

FAQ

Sunshine Coast web design and development FAQs

Where we are based, who we work with, what it costs and how the work actually runs.
Yes. Jonathan Bird, our founder and technical lead, and Mishalia Bird, our design and content lead, both work from Minyama, a few minutes from Mooloolaba and Kawana. We also have a senior developer based in Brisbane. We were building for the Coast well before the move: Impact Office Supplies has been a client since 2018. You deal with the senior people doing the work, not a local sales contact fronting a team somewhere else.
Yes. Brisbane is still a major market, we have a senior developer based there, and a large share of current projects are Brisbane organisations. Being on the Coast changed where two of us sit, not who we work with. Our Brisbane web design and development page covers that work.
Established organisations where the website matters commercially. Manufacturers, wholesalers and distributors with deep catalogues and trade pricing. Health and community services. Education and training providers. Industry bodies, professional services firms and not-for-profits. eCommerce businesses whose operations are more complicated than their storefront suggests. The common thread is complexity rather than headcount: several audiences, connected systems, governance requirements, or functionality no template covers. Impact Office Supplies is a fair example: a 15,000-product catalogue, contract pricing per account, multi-level order approvals and an ERP that has to stay the source of truth.
Locally you will see anything from a few thousand dollars for a templated brochure site up to six-figure platform builds, because those are different products. Cost is driven by how much of the work is content strategy, custom functionality, integration and data migration, not by page count. We do not publish fixed packages, because a fixed package usually means the scope was decided before anyone understood the problem. You get a defined scope and a firm price before development starts. If your requirements turn out simpler than expected, we will say so.
Yes, and it is the larger half of what we do. Alongside design and content strategy we build custom web applications, B2B and D2C eCommerce platforms, and integrations with ERP, CRM, accounting, inventory, payment and search systems. We also take on existing websites that need performance work, migrations, security remediation or a technical owner. Design and development decisions get made in the same conversation, so implementation constraints do not surface after a design is approved.
Yes. Being based in Minyama makes in-person discovery sessions and content workshops straightforward anywhere from Caloundra through Kawana, Maroochydore and Buderim up to Noosa, and we still meet in person in Brisbane. Day-to-day work runs remotely so the budget goes into the build rather than travel. We suggest meeting face to face where it genuinely helps: early discovery, stakeholder workshops, and decisions that are hard to make on a call.
Mostly Statamic and Laravel, plus WordPress and Shopify where they suit the brief. The platform follows the problem, not the other way round: a content-heavy site with several audiences, a B2B ordering platform tied to an ERP and a straightforward retail storefront are three different problems. Everything sits on open-source foundations, and you own the code, the content and the hosting, so another competent developer could pick it up if you ever needed them to.
Often, yes. A good number of our long-running relationships started with a site somebody else built that had become slow, fragile or unsupported. We start with a technical review of the codebase, hosting, integrations and content model, then tell you whether it is worth stabilising and improving or whether the foundations have run out. Both answers happen, and the cheaper one happens more than you would expect.
