Klaviyo Integration for Shopify, Adobe Commerce & Custom Stores
Server-side events, custom catalogs and flows that keep working when your storefront is headless or custom, not just a stock Shopify theme.
The default Klaviyo app only tracks what your store surfaces out of the box, whether that is Shopify, Adobe Commerce, or a custom build. The moment you move to a headless storefront, add a custom checkout, run subscriptions, or sell through a B2B portal, the client-side pixel starts missing events. Segments stop matching reality, revenue attribution drifts, and flows fire at the wrong people. I fix that by tracking events server-side, where they cannot be blocked, skipped, or lost, and by feeding Klaviyo a catalog that reflects what you actually sell.
Proven in production
Klaviyo is where D2C revenue actually lives. If your attribution looks wrong, it usually is, and it is usually the tracking, not the marketing.
What I build with Klaviyo
The Klaviyo integration work I most often take on. If yours sounds like one of these, we should talk.
Server-side Event Tracking
Viewed product, added to cart, started checkout, and placed order tracked from your server rather than a browser pixel. Ad blockers, iOS privacy settings, and headless storefronts stop being able to quietly delete your data.
Headless & Hydrogen Storefronts
If you have gone headless, the stock Klaviyo app can no longer see most of what your customers do. I wire tracking into your storefront properly so segmentation and attribution keep working, rather than degrading in ways that are hard to notice and expensive to ignore.
Custom Catalog Feeds
Push your real product catalogue into Klaviyo, including the fields your merchandising actually depends on: collections, variants, custom metafields, availability, and pricing. Product blocks and recommendations only work as well as the catalog behind them.
Back-in-stock & Custom Flows
Back-in-stock alerts, price-drop notifications, replenishment reminders, and win-back flows driven by events your store emits rather than events Klaviyo guesses at. If your business has a signal worth acting on, it can be a flow trigger.
Profile & Segment Sync
Push the data you hold elsewhere into Klaviyo profiles: loyalty tier, lifetime value from your ERP, B2B account type, subscription status. Segmentation is only as smart as the properties you give it.
Fixing Broken Attribution
If Klaviyo is reporting revenue that does not match Shopify, the cause is almost always missing or duplicated events rather than a reporting bug. I audit what is actually being sent, find the gap, and close it.
A Klaviyo integration built to last
The same approach behind every integration I ship, from the first conversation to the years of maintenance that follow.
Scope & map
We map exactly what needs to move between Klaviyo and your store: orders, stock, pricing, customers, and where the awkward edge cases hide.
Build for redundancy
I build the integration around the failure modes: retries with backoff, idempotent writes, and reconciliation, so it holds up when the API has a bad day.
Test & reconcile
Tested against real data in a safe environment, with reconciliation reporting that proves Klaviyo and your store actually agree before go-live.
Monitor & maintain
Monitoring and alerting from launch, so failures surface immediately, and the same developer who built it is the one who keeps it running.

Klaviyo that still works after you customise your store.
The standard Klaviyo install is genuinely good, right up until your store stops being standard. Custom checkouts, headless storefronts, subscriptions, and B2B portals all punch holes in client-side tracking. Most agencies do not notice, because the dashboard still shows numbers. They are just the wrong numbers.
A typical agency
Installs the app, ticks the box.
-
Installs the Klaviyo app, confirms the dashboard shows numbers, and calls the integration done.
-
Relies on client-side pixels, so ad blockers, privacy settings, and headless storefronts silently drop events.
-
Flows are built on whatever properties the default app happens to sync.
Working with me
Tracks what actually happened.
-
Checks that the numbers are right. Klaviyo revenue should reconcile against Shopify, and if it does not, that is a tracking bug worth finding.
-
Tracks the important events server-side, where they cannot be blocked or lost, so your segments reflect reality.
-
Profiles are enriched with the data that actually matters to you: lifetime value from the ERP, loyalty tier, account type, subscription state.

Common Klaviyo Integration Questions
Does Klaviyo work with a headless Shopify store?
It can, but not out of the box in the way people assume. The default integration leans on Shopify's own storefront to fire tracking events, and a headless storefront is not that. Without server-side tracking you typically keep order data and lose most browsing behaviour, which quietly guts your segmentation and abandoned-browse flows. The fix is to emit events server-side from your storefront and your backend, which is exactly what I build.
Why is my Klaviyo revenue attribution wrong?
Nine times out of ten it is missing or duplicated events rather than a Klaviyo reporting problem. Common causes: client-side events blocked by privacy tooling, a custom checkout that never fires the standard events, orders created through a channel the integration does not watch, or the same order being tracked twice through two different paths. It is diagnosable. I audit what is actually being sent, compare it against Shopify, and close the gap.
Can Klaviyo track custom events from my site?
Yes, and this is where it gets genuinely powerful. Any signal your business cares about can become an event and therefore a flow trigger: a quote requested, a subscription paused, a warranty registered, a trade account approved, a product back in stock in the customer's size. If your system knows it, Klaviyo can act on it.
Can I sync a custom catalog into Klaviyo?
Yes. Klaviyo's catalog can be fed from your real product data rather than only what the default sync picks up, including variants, metafields, collections, and availability. This matters if your product recommendations or dynamic product blocks currently look thin or show things that are out of stock.
Klaviyo or Mailchimp for a Shopify store?
For eCommerce, Klaviyo, and it is not especially close. Klaviyo is built around commerce events and product data, so segmentation, flows, and revenue attribution are native rather than bolted on. Mailchimp is a decent general-purpose email tool that happens to have eCommerce features. If you are running a store and email is a meaningful revenue channel, Klaviyo earns its higher price.
